We are the Cooperative Commonwealth Caucus (CCC), a market socialist caucus within the Democratic Socialist of America (DSA)

We are a dedicated ideological bloc of Market Socialists that want to democratize the economy and use co-operativism as a means to own the production for the working class. Our caucus believes that the anti-democratic hierarchical powers that presides over the capitalist firms are used to exploit, oppress and manipulate individuals for greed, profit and power alone.

We must organize as a socialist movement with clear ambitions on how to replace these fundamental errors of our society with an economic base that affirms the sovereignty and rights of the worker. It is our mission to make clear what ought to be the way of implementing Market Socialism within the economy, and to push forth an agenda that assists current and aspiring co-operatives.

We also believe in pushing for the creation of a worker co-operative committee within the national DSA with the idea of organizing and unifying the existing base of the working class.

Our mission is singular, not solely reformist nor revolutionary. We will democratize the republic not just in the government but also in the market. Together we can support the greater democratic socialist movement by defining what socialism can be.

Councils System

Every member of the caucus is required to choose and join a council of their liking. Each council serves a specific purpose and direction that is ultimately chosen by its members.

• Media Council
  • The Media Council co-ordinates the caucus social media posts, website, and general outreach to DSA.
• Electoral Council
  • The Electoral Council leads recruitment, government and internal DSA endorsements/recommendations, and policy drafting.
  • Additionally manages the onboarding sub-council.
• Co-op Organizing Council
  • The Co-operative Organizing Council is tasked with studying and organizing of existing and aspiring co-operatives into a democratic socialist federation.
• Political Education Council
  • The Political Education Council engages caucus membership by organizing educational meetings of recommended texts, theory and provides informational texts about co-operative structures.
• Executive Council
  • The Council of elected caucus leadership. It is composed of the two Co-Chairs, a Secretary, a Treasurer, and the Co-Operative Chair
